Victor Ortiz is the current WBC (World Boxing Council) Welterweight Champion. He won this championship belt from previously undefeated Andre Berto last April and Floyd was watching him at ringside. Mayweather saw the potentials of Ortiz and decided to settle a fight. The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is scheduled in September and this will be the 16th month since Mayweather last fought in a boxing event.
The fight is about 3 weeks away and both pugilists are already on full throttle with their training sessions. Ortiz is very much excited to fight Floyd because no doubt this is by far the biggest fight of his career. He will not only return home with a hefty amount, he will also have the chance to pull an upset and become one of the sport's biggest draws.
"I'm feeling good... There's no other expression that I can give or throw out at you," expressed Ortiz to Mannix after being asked about how he is feeling about this fight at this point. "This guy is another step for me. I mean he thinks that he's gonna go in there and walk with me like he's walk with his other 40 opponents or whatever, he definitely walks into the wrong den with the wrong lion, that's for sure." Ortiz added.
Ortiz doesn't think Mayweather is looking past him. He believes it is good because he wants the best Mayweather when they fight. "I don't want a silhouette of him. I don't want a shadow of Mayweather. I want the Mayweather that destroyed 41 of his opponents to show up that night."
The Episode 1 of 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz started on Saturday, August, 27 at HBO and many are already excited to watch the Mayweather vs Ortiz mega-fight on September 17. Episode 2 of 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz will be on September 3 while Episode 3 24/7 and Episode 4 24/7 will be on September 10 and September 16 respectively.
