Mayweather looking sharp during media workout

Undefeated boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr opened his doors to the fans and the media yesterday evening for an open workout prior to his forthcoming fight against Victor Ortiz Jr on Saturday, September 17th live in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This will give the fans and media a glimpse of how ready he is for the upcoming mega-event titled as Star Power. Mayweather personally hand-picked Ortiz after seeing the latter acquired the WBC Welterweight Belt against previously undefeated Andre Berto in April. Floyd was excited to tell Victor that he wants to fight him next, give the fans an entertaining fight and give him a good percentage of the total money the whole event will make.

Floyd Mayweather vs Ortiz is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, a company owned by Mexican-American Oscar de la Hoya. It will be co-promoted by Mayweather Promotions, the promotional company of Floyd, together with HBO PPV and MGM Grand.

Floyd Mayweather looked extremely sharp at training camp. His speed and power amazed the media and fans who are there to see him do the mitts and punching bags and shadow box. He may be fighting after a 16-month layoff but his skill inside the ring is still better than ever.

Floyd's next date with destiny is now just ten days away. He no longer needs to cut a lot of weight because he is already at the 147-pound weight limit.

Ortiz will hold a media workout soon and the people will see if he is sharper than Floyd. Based on the mandatory 30-day pre-fight weigh-in results, Victor was 10 lbs above the weight limit compared to Floyd who is only 2 lbs over.

Victor may be too young to fight the veteran Floyd Mayweather Jr who is still at the peak of his career. Forty-one boxers tried to defeat the American boxing icon but all of them failed. Only two boxers came close to beating him, they are Oscar de la Hoya and Jose Luis Castillo.

On September 17, boxing's newest star Victor Ortiz Jr will try to pull the biggest upset in the history of boxing. It could be similar to the Tyson-Douglas upset or it could be another win for Mayweather. Many predict the undefeated Michigan native to win this fight once again. The next fight the boxing fans want to see is the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight - we'll just hope it will happen soon.

Mayweather vs Ortiz weigh-in will be on September 16, a day before the fight happens. Mayweather vs Ortiz 24/7 Episode 3 will be on September 10 on HBO.
