The Mayweather vs Ortiz mega-event, dubbed as Star Power, will be a split-site coverage because another young Mexican rising star will fight in the co-main event.
Lopez (29-3, 17 KOs) and Vargas (16-0, 9 KOs) will face off at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It will be followed by a fight featuring Mexican Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KOs), a three-division titleholder versus hard-punching Lucas Matthysse (28-2, 26 KOs) for the vacant WBC junior welterweight belt. Morales vs Matthyse will also be held inside the MGM Grand.
The broadcast will then transfet to The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California where WBC junior middleweight titleholder Saul Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KOs) will protect his belt against Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KOs). This will be the main event inside the Staples Center.
After the Alvarez vs Gomez fight, the coverage will then switch back to the MGM Grand for the Ortiz vs Mayweather mega-fight. "Vicious"Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KOs) will defend his WBC welterweight belt against the Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather Jr (41-0, 25 KOs).
Fans at the Staple Center will gaze at a large screen during the first two televised fights (Lopez vs Vargas and Morales vs Matthyse) at the MGM Grand. Then they will watch Alvarez vs Gomez fight atop the ring. After the fight, fans can choose to go home or watch the main-event on big screen. At the MGM Grand Arena, it will be the other way around.
