Schaefer hype: Ortiz will beat Mayweather

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, insists that "Vicious" Victor Ortiz will defeat Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. on September 17, 2011 at the Luxurious MGM Grand Garden Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

"I don't think the (Mayweather vs Pacquiao) fight is going to happen. And I don't think that it's not going to happen because Mayweather doesn't want to do it or Pacquiao doesn't want to do it....or the split or the drug testing. I'll tell you what's going to be the reason on why the fight is not going to happen. The reason is - Victor Ortiz is going to beat Floyd Mayweather." said Schaefer in an interview with Boxingscene.com.

Millions of boxing fans all over the world badly wants Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr to face each other in a mega-fight after their respective fights in fall. Pacquiao, a congressman in the Philippines, is set to face Juan Manuel Marquez (Pacquiao vs Marquez) on November 12, if Marquez wins his tune-up bout this coming July 16 against Likar Ramos.

Many believed that the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight will be a tune-up for Floyd because, like Pacquiao, Victor is a southpaw which has speed and power in his arsenal.

Golden Boy Promotions badly wants to promote this fight so everyone will be happy with their paychecks. Blatant or sensational promotion includes telling the world that the undefeated, ex-pound-for-pound king and ring veteran Floyd Mayweather will be defeated by the younger Victor Ortiz.

The HBO 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz will start on August 27 to help promote the forthcoming fight which they dubbed as Star Power.

"Victor is in an amazing position. He is able to face the best fighter in the world. A fighter who hasn't fought in 16 months [by the time of the fight] and has had a lot of distractions outside of the ring that he's had to deal with. Let's face it, he can't hurt Victor Ortiz, but Victor can hurt him," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com's Luis Sandoval.

Schaefer told the media that he is confident Ortiz will be the first to score a loss to Mayweather's clean record and the fight between Manny and Floyd won't happen in 2012.
