Promotional tour kicks-off June 28

The national media promotional tour of the upcoming fight between Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. and "Vicious" Victor Ortiz will start on Tuesday, June 28. The two-city press conference will start in New York followed by a stop in Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 29.

Victor Ortiz will defend his WBC (World Boxing Council) Welterweight Belt against undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr on September 17. The fight venue is not set yet because Golden Boy Promotions have been discussing with MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, at the moment. In the next couple of days, Schaefer will reveal where the upcoming super-fight will go - but it's most likely to be at the MGM Grand Arena where Floyd Mayweather fought his last four fights.

Schaefer also hopes that a deal with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will be finalized. They wanted him to be in the undercard of the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight because he is a possible next opponent for Floyd if both of them win their respective fights.

The venue of the Alvarez fight will be different even though he is in the undercard. If ever a deal is settled, the fight will happen in Mexico because that day falls on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day where many Mexicans expect to see a Mexican boxing star in a fight.

Golden Boy also wants to add Erik Morales in the Ortiz vs Mayweather undercard. He is a former three-division world champion and one of the three boxers who won against boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

"If we can get Canelo and Morales both on the pay-per-view, I think the sky's the limit of what we can do in pay-per-view," Schaefer said in an interview with ESPN.com. "That would make it an even bigger event for the fans."
