Random Urine and Drug Testing

Part of the written agreement of Mayweather vs Mosley "Who R U Picking?" Boxing Fight to be held on May 1, 2010 at MGM Grand Las Vegas Nevada is a random Urine and Blood testing before and after the fight. This is one of the reason why the Mayweather vs Pacquiao intended fight last March 13, 2010 collapsed and a Pacquiao vs Clottey fight was organized.

Representatives of boxers Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley together with Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar dela Hoya and Richard Schaefer has disclosed their anti-doping procedures for the upcoming Mayweather vs Mosley welterweight fight.

Travis Tygart, the head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, said that both fighters (Mayweather and Mosley) will be subjected to random urine and/or blood tests from now "until and after the fight." The urine tests will be for steroids detection and the blood tests will be to search for such performance-enhancers as human growth hormone or HGH, synthetic hemoglobin and blood transfusions.

Mosley in 2007 admitted he unknowingly took BALCO steroids. He was a "health-freak" who had no idea what he took for several weeks in the fall of 2003 where his former strength and conditioning coach pressured him to take "the clear" and "the cream" a BALCO designed steroids.

Mosley said in an interview with ESPN.com that "Unknowingly, yes, some of the substances they are talking about, were being used as part of the workouts. I didn't know what the hell it was".

Mayweather who was invited by Mosley several times for a boxing match a couple of years ago, did not accepted the challenge. It was only now that he decided to take on Mosley and said that he will be an easy opponent for him because Mosley is already old.

According to Tygart if the boxer shows a positive result it would leave him suspended from boxing for two years, a condition which both fighters have agreed to.

Floyd Mayweather's desire for a more rigorous testing program than what Nevada offers is a random urine testing before and immediately after the bout. This contributed to the failed negotiations to stage a fight against Manny Pacquiao earlier this year.

After the break down of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, Mayweather stood up to his decision that every boxer should have a random urine and blood testing before and after every fight.

After the Mayweather vs Mosley fight, a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao and the winner will be held later this year....
