Six days to go before the much-awaited fight between Filipino Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Mexican Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez. Keith Kizer, the Executive Director of the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) informed the public that the official referee of the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 is Tony Weeks while the official Judges seated at ringside are Robert Hoyle, Glenn Trowbridge and Dave Moretti.
Tapped by NSAC to be the third man in the ring in the Pacman vs JuanMa fight, the commission believes Referee Weeks is capable of making the fight exciting. He will see to it that the fight has minimum foul plays such as head butt, stepping on the foot and low blows because he sees them fast and penalize the boxer if he commits a foul.
Born on August 18, 1956 in the United States, Referee Weeks now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, minutes away from the venue of the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3.
Manny Pacquiao will defend his WBO Welterweight Belt for the third time. He got this belt against Miguel Cotto in November 2009 and successfully defended it against Joshua Clottey on March 2010 and Shane Mosley in his most recent fight.
It will be third time Tony Weeks will serve as a referee of a Pacquiao fight and fourth time in a Marquez fight . Tony served as the third man in the ring in the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya fight in December 2008 and the Pacquiao vs Barrera rematch on October 2007. Refereed the Marquez vs Mayweather fight in September 2009, Tony also served as the third man in the ring in the Marquez vs Casamayor in September 2008 and Marquez vs Salido in September 2004.
Was highly criticized for not stopping a bout in 1995, Tony Weeks is now one of the best referees in the world together with Kenny Bayless and Vic Drakulich.
Judges' Robert Hoyle, Glenn Trowbridge and Dave Moretti scorecards will be useful if the Pacquiao vs Marquez fight goes the distance but many analysts are predicting it to end via stoppage. On November 12, boxing fans will all see on who prepared well for the fight. Manny Pacquiao is the heavy favorite but Juan Manuel Marquez will be a tough challenge.
