Face-off with Max Kellerman - Mayweather vs Ortiz

On September 17th live at the 17000-seating capacity MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will be the return of the biggest money-maker in boxing, Floyd Mayweather. He steps into the ring against the southpaw with real hand-speed and punching power, coming off a win in a fight of the year type of brawl - no, not Manny Pacquiao - this guy is bigger than Floyd Mayweather and he is in his 20s not his 30s; he is "Vicious" Victor Ortiz.

In the Face-off with Max Kellerman, Mayweather was asked why it took him so long to be back in the ring. Floyd is out from the sport for 16 long months - his last fight was against ring veteran "Sugar" Shane Mosley in May 2010. He is eager to fight again in the sport of boxing and it won't be on a tune-up fight. He always say he wants to "fight for the fans".

Press Tour Video of Mayweather and Ortiz

Before Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz laces up their gloves to fight in the bright lights of Las Vegas, HBO followed both boxers across the United States to prepare for one of the biggest fights of the year. From the heart of the big apple in New York City to Los Angeles, California both fighters hyped up their upcoming clash by telling everyone what a good fight this is going to be.

The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is promoted mainly by Golden Boy Promotions and HBO-PPV. It will be a big boxing event this coming September 17 inside the luxurious MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The WBC Welterweight of Ortiz will be on the line.

Morales may fight Barrios in the Mayweather-Ortiz undercard

In his last ring appearance, against Marcos Rene Maidana of Argentina, Erik "El Terrible" Morales (51-7, 35 KO) showed the world that even at the age of 34 years old he still has the power and speed comparable to a much younger boxer. Even though he lost, he exhibited his skills and telling everyone that he is still an entertaining fighter.

It was previously announced that Erik Morales would be facing Anthony Crolla (21-2, 9 KO) of the UK on the Mayweather vs Ortiz Undercard which will happen on September 17 in the Sin City. But as the days gone by, Golden Boy have initially decided to go for Jorge Barrios, a much tougher and more experienced fighter than Crolla.

Amir Khan wants to fight Mayweather vs Ortiz winner

Amir "King" Khan recently won against Zab Judah in a match where many believed will be a testing ground for Khan's soft chin. Amir's only loss was against Breidis Prescott in September 2009 via a shocking 1st round knockout where a solid heavy blow by his opponent hit his chin.

If given the chance to fight the winner of the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight, Amir would surely step up because he knows he has a huge chance to win against any of them. With celebrated trainer Freddie Roach on his side, Amir Khan is already tagged as one of the prime boxers in the light-welterweight division - arguably next to Bradley.

After fighting Ortiz, Mayweather will still be undefeated

No doubt, Mayweather will win his fight against Ortiz this coming September 17 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in the Sin City. The fight will be televised via HBO PPV and tickets are already on sale. Even if you check the Mayweather vs Ortiz tale of the tape, there are no huge difference between the two - the big thing that separates Floyd and Victor is the experience.

Undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr is the more experienced boxer between the two. Even though many questioned him why he didn't fight Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito, he is still one of the best in the sport. His speed and power is comparable to Manny Pacquiao and the only thing left for Mayweather to have the greatest honor in the sport is to defeat the Filipino fighting congressman.

Mayweather's tune-up fight won't be similar to Marquez's

The fight between Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. and "Vicious" Victor Ortiz won't be close to similar to the recent tune-up fight of Juan Manuel Marquez against Likar Ramos.

Even though Floyd Mayweather Jr and his solid followers don't consider his upcoming fight as a tune-up fight for the upcoming much anticipated mega-showdown against Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, many still believe that he chose Ortiz because he is a southpaw like Pacquiao.

Ortiz has nothing to lose against Mayweather

Victor Ortiz, after winning against Andre Berto in April 16, 2011, is now dubbed as one of the most elite boxers in the Welterweight Division. He lost two times in his entire professional boxing career and another two of his fights were scored a draw. He will fight Floyd Mayweather Jr this September 16 inside the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and he will defend his WBC Welterweight Belt, the same belt he got from Andre Berto in his last fight.

The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight, dubbed as Star Power will be televised via HBO pay-per-view and many are expecting a large output in terms of PPV and gate receipts from this fight because Floyd Mayweather Jr has not fought since winning a lopsided fight against Shane Mosley in May 2010.

Roach: Mayweather won't fight Pacman after Ortiz, maybe Khan

Celebrated trainer Freddie Roach believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr will never fight his most-prized ward, Manny Pacquiao, after the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight dubbed as Star Power: Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz to be televised at HBO PPV with a reality TV series 24/7 which will debut on August 27.

Roach is favoring Floyd Mayweather to win against "Vicious" Victor Ortiz on September 17. He believes the undefeated former pound-for-pound king will win via stoppage. But after that fight, he don't see any possibilities of Floyd facing Pacman. Manny Pacquiao, a congressman in the Philippines, is also scheduled for a Pacquiao vs Marquez fight on November 12. If both boxing stars win their respective fights, it makes the most sense to finally settle the mega-fight between Floyd and Manny.

"I don't think the (Mayweather vs Pacquiao) fight is going to happen. And I don't think that it's not going to happen because Mayweather doesn't want to do it or Pacquiao doesn't want to do it....or the split or the drug testing. The reason is - Victor Ortiz is going to beat Floyd Mayweather." said Schaefer in an interview with Boxingscene.com.

Erik Morales on Mayweather vs Ortiz Undercard

Erik "El Terrible" Morales has finally declared his next fight. He will be part of the undercard of the much-discussed fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz this September 17 on HBO pay-per-view.

Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO), the last pugilist to win against ring icon Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, will fight UK lightweight Anthony Crolla (21-2, 9 KO). The fight is expected to be at the 140-pound weight class.

In his last fight against Marcos Rene Maidana, Erik Morales showed the world that he still has the power and speed even at the age of 34. He gave Maidana a hard-fought fight after suffering a hard-punch, which led to the large lump on top of his eye, in the first few rounds of that fight. He was tagged as brave and fearless after that battle and many Mexicans were proud of his performance even though he lost.

Anthony Crolla, 24 years old , won the vacant British lightweight in February.
